Individual psychotherapy is a one-to-one professional helping relationship, with the goal to address the client’s presenting emotional and relational concerns. The primary method used will be verbal interactions, although non-verbal activities (eg. using sandtray, clay, art and creative play etc.) may also be used at times. In general, individual psychotherapy is recommended for anyone with mental age of at least 10 and above, and interested in personal development. The therapeutic process aims to address any emotional and mental health concerns ranging from normal stress, grief and trauma, chronic pain and sleep problems, to mild/moderate level of psychopathology such as depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal behaviours, addiction, eating disorders etc.
At GROWING SPACE, we integrate various therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic-experiential, cognitive-behavioural, and family systems, to work with the client’s presenting concerns. We provide a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can engage in self-exploration and self-understanding. We collaborate with clients to set their own therapeutic goals, and skillfully facilitate clients to work towards achieving their goals. The number of psychotherapy sessions required depends on client’s needs and goals. On average, we recommend at least 8 to 12 sessions for a full experience of psychotherapy.
