Panic Disorder

Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterised by recurring and regular panic attacks. While it is natural to experience feelings of anxiousness, unease or panic, someone with panic disorder find these feelings very intense and overwhelming. These feelings may also arise at any given time on a regular basis and at times for no obvious reasons making it unpredictable which can add to one’s fear and worry that it may happen over and again.

Some of the symptoms of panic attacks include:

  • Sense of impending doom or danger
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness or faintness
  • Fear of loss of control or death
  • Rapid, pounding heart rate
  • Sweating
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Shortness of breath or tightness in your throat
  • Chills
  • Chest pain
  • Feeling of unreality or detachment
