Sharon has a strong background in counseling, holding a Bachelor’s in Applied Psychology from
Coventry University and a Master’s of Counseling from Open University Malaysia. She is a registered
counselor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia and has dedicated a decade to supporting cancer patients and their families throughout the treatment journey, including during terminal stages and
bereavement.
Her commitment extends to community service, where she helps primary school students navigate
issues such as school refusal, unhealthy sexual behavior, academic pressure, and fear of loss issues.
Drawing from her personal experience with infertility and IVF has allowed her to understand the
emotional complexities involved, equipping her with a unique perspective to approach her work with
deep empathy for those facing similar challenges. Sharon also works with individual adults dealing
with various emotional, relationship, and career issues.
She primarily uses Reality Therapy, rooted in choice theory, which emphasizes that our behaviors are
choices we make. She encourages clients to take responsibility for their actions and recognize that
while they may not have control over their feelings, they do have control over their thoughts and
behaviors. This approach fosters accountability and encourages proactive decision-making,
empowering clients to create positive life changes. Through this lens, clients learn to identify and
modify unhelpful behaviors, ultimately leading to more fulfilling relationships and life experiences.
Additionally, she incorporates various theoretical frameworks tailored to individual client needs,
including the Art-Drawing House Tree Person, which can effectively explore feelings, thoughts, and
traumatic experiences.
